Grand County Public Library Art Exhibit
Call for Submissions
SUSTAINABILITY: What does it mean
to you? Express your
perspective through your art and share your vision with the Moab
community. The Grand County Public Library Art Committee, in
cooperation with the Library Board of Directors, invites artists
and collectors to submit works of art for the Sustainable Art
Show.
Eligibility:
Open to all regional artists working in sculpture or any
original two-dimensional or wall-hung medium: painting,
photography, drawing, fiber art, wall-mounted ceramics,
hand-pulled prints. Collectors with works in these media may
also submit entries for consideration.
Method of Entry: Complete the entry form and submit up to two pieces of original art
which are durable and suitable for display in the public library
(non-museum) setting. All entries must be suitably framed and
wired for hanging (no “sawtooth” hangers). Attach a label to
the back of each piece stating artist name, collector (if
applicable), address, telephone number, title of piece, and
medium. Also include price of work if the Library elects to
purchase the piece for the permanent collection (price
information and donation offers will be kept in confidence).
Works will be accepted between Monday, August 17 and Friday,
August 21, 9 am to 5pm. Pieces that are oversized will be
considered, but please call in advance.
Notification:
Works will be selected according
to artistic appropriateness, the number of submissions, and
available space. Selected works will be on display from
September 1 to October 3, 2009. Artists with work that is not
selected will be notified by telephone the week of August 24 and
will need to retrieve their work no later than 5pm on Friday,
August 28, 2009.
Sales:
The Library Board may elect to
purchase pieces for the Library’s permanent collection. The
Board may also accept donations in keeping with the Library’s
art acquisition policy. Exhibited artwork may be for sale, but
prices may not be displayed. Artist contact information may be
presented on a business card-sized label along with the art.
Interested buyers will contact the artist directly.
Liability:
Artwork will be handled with the
utmost care. However, neither the Grand County Public Library
nor any agent will be responsible for damage or loss to any work
of art submitted.
